This is my 3rd GPS and by far the best bang for the buck. It is very easy to learn, out of the box it was ready to go. That week end we motorcycled over 1500 miles and it worked everytime I asked it for something.
Garmin Zumo 550 = Great!, April 10, 2007

My wife and I have been researching motorcycle GPS’ for months and narrowed it down to Garmin Zumo. Tiger GPS provided the best price I have found anywhere and we were not disappointed. Delivery was rapid and the Zumo is FANTASTIC! Mounting and wiring was a snap and using it has been simple. It’s directions are dependable and the only time it led us slightly astray was in a new construction area (easily understandeable). It quickly got us back on track with no loss of time. I am a loyal fan of Garmin and TigerGPS from here on out!

I have learned all I need to know without seeing the CD. It worked perfectly right out of the box. I know that getting lost is now impossible.

My last 3 GPS devices have been Garmins. I use them in my car and on a bike so I need a weatherproof unit. The one thing that Garmin offers that no one else has anymore is the software (Mapsource, City navigator) that lets you design you own routes on a computer and then download them to the GPS. This unit supports that and its imortant to me because I lead rides for a motorcycle club with about 100 members and you just cant plan your own routes from the GPS itself...its nearly impossible. The Zumo’s controls are perfect, the menus are perfect and while my garmin 276c had a better screen in direct sun the Zumo works well enough. I highly recommend this unit.

Installed Zumo 550 on an 05 Goldwing and integrated it and cell phone with Kennedy CellSet.
I’m very satisfied, works great. Two minor issues were: 1) Had to upgrade my cell phone to utilize the BlueTooth configeration and 2) had to tweek the volumn & mute settings on the GL18 to hear and issue voice commands.
Have taken several trips (approx. 600 miles). On two trips the Garmin wanted me to take dirt roads but I think I’ve got to pay more attention to the routes the computer selects.

The GPS unit is all it says and more. The functionality and ease of use is excellent. The price is great for the unit although like one of its predecessors (Street Pilot 2730), I wish it came with the XM antenna so as not to seem to gauge the public for more money( $249). As far as mounting it in a car, great unless you have a large truck or minivan with a large windshield. I also wish there was a bean bag setup as in other Garmin units as opposed to a disc that sticks to the dashboard. I think the disc would be unsightly and come off in very hot weather. Mounting on a motorcycle, you may need to buy a longer RAM-Mount arm if you have anything else mounted on your bikes dashboard. But if you don’t, you may get away with what comes in the box. the Gp has great speed, accuracy compactness that some of it’s predecessors do not have. I will always prefer this brand over others.
